# Sendbird CLI

Sendbird CLI lets you manage your Sendbird applications from the command line, or have an AI coding agent such as Claude Code or Codex manage them for you. Tell the agent what you need in plain language, and it creates a Sendbird app, users, and a channel and sends your first message, all within minutes.

To build the client side as well, add the [Sendbird Client plugin](/plugins/client.md). It writes the Chat and Calls SDK code in your app, so your AI coding agent can build your client app for you too.

![Sendbird CLI manages your Sendbird app on Sendbird servers. The Sendbird Client plugin adds Chat and Calls features to your app's code. You can use one or both, and your app's code connects to your Sendbird app with the App ID.](https://4058752777-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FT9zSQZVNCZJymmvYw7aV%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-5be83e9910b605261e7d0edae08b289488f5e34b%2Fsendbird-tools-overview.png?alt=media)

## Choose where to start

<table><thead><tr><th width="362.1796875">Your goal</th><th>Start here</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Run CLI commands yourself</td><td><a href="/readme/quickstart.md">Quickstart</a></td></tr><tr><td>Have an AI coding agent run CLI commands</td><td><a href="/readme/ai-agents.md">Use Sendbird CLI with an AI coding agent</a>, or the <a href="/plugins/cli.md">Sendbird CLI plugin</a> for setup inside Claude Code or Codex</td></tr><tr><td>Add Chat to your app</td><td><a href="/plugins/client/add-chat.md">Add Chat</a></td></tr><tr><td>Add 1-to-1 voice and video calls to your app</td><td><a href="/plugins/client/add-voice-and-video-calls.md">Add voice and video calls</a></td></tr></tbody></table>

The Sendbird Client plugin needs your Sendbird app's App ID. If you already have a Sendbird app, you can start with the Sendbird Client plugin without installing the CLI. If you don't, create one with the CLI by following Steps 1 to 3 of the [Quickstart](/readme/quickstart.md).
